Women Leading Women: A Day of Transformation in Slidell | St. Tammany Community News


The Women’s Center for Healing & Transformation of Abita Springs will hold its first conference – “Healing Ourselves in a Wounded World” – at the Harbor Center in Slidell on May 7. It will be an opportunity for women to come together, learn, reflect and perhaps establish new relationships.

All women are welcome at the gathering from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $45, with some scholarships available. A table of friends can be reserved for $160, a saving of $5 per participant and dinner is included. This non-profit organization offers programs and services provided by women, for women, with a “pay as you can” policy for most group programs and classes.

The Women’s Center provides opportunities for growth, connection, and social change in a welcoming environment that seeks to unite women of diverse backgrounds and traditions, at all stages of life, to positively impact their community.

  • Lillian Savoie, reiki master, holistic life coach and author of “Fill Your Soul – The Feminine Way”, will seek to help women discover how small decisions lead to happiness and find true purpose.
  • Tarah Keech, clinical psychologist and life coach, will teach women to discover how to prevent, heal and recover from burnout.
  • Asiyah DeGruy, a licensed supervisory clinical social worker, will discuss how not to sacrifice personal well-being on the path to social and community justice.
  • Celeste Kelly, empowerment coach, will reveal tools and tips for positive transformation.
  • Renee Ridgley, Registered Social Worker, uses a realistic and humorous approach to everyday stress management, self-care and wellness.
  • Gina Pausina Cherry, breast cancer survivor and dancer, will teach about overcoming personal setbacks and the value of passionate projects and shared trauma experience.
  • Arts and reuse specialist Rosalie Torres teaches the true meaning of “reuse” and how to harness its power in everyday life.
  • Rebecca Kronlage, Certified Yoga Instructor with over 500 hours of teacher training, will explain that self-esteem begins with realizing that we are enough just the way we are.
  • Michelle Sierra, a longtime licensed and licensed physical therapist with medical specialties in women’s health, will discuss why a healthy pelvic floor is essential to quality of life.
