Softball game raises money for fallen officers | Herald Community Newspapers


On Saturday, the New York Police Department’s “Grand Slam for Heroes” softball team and the UK’s Royal Air Force softball team faced off in a fundraising softball tournament to support families. deceased New York Police Department detectives Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora. Additionally, funds raised at the event will benefit families assisted by Law Enforcement Officers Weekend, an organization that works with the families of police officers seriously injured or killed in the line of duty.

“The Town of Hempstead is proud to join our first responders and their families in supporting Law Enforcement Weekend and its efforts to help law enforcement families affected by serious injuries. or death in the line of duty,” supervisor Don Clavin said. “Our men and women in blue put their lives on the line to protect our community.”

“The ‘Grand Slam for Heroes’ softball tournament will raise money to help the families of Detectives Rivera and Mora, two of our heroes who we lost in January. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a remarkable cause and are grateful to Supervisor Don Clavin, Councilor Anthony D’Esposito and the Town of Hempstead for their continued support of all of our charitable endeavours.
