Hyderabad, April 26 (UNI) The Governor of Telangana, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, said on Tuesday that “education of women is essential for the empowerment of women and their entry and elevation in different fields. Dr. Ramilisai during a lecture on “Dr. BR Ambedkar’s contribution to women’s empowerment”, at a ceremony held as part of the 131st anniversary of the birth of Dr. Ambedkar and the 115th anniversary of the birth of Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanti at ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, here, highlighted Baba Saheb Dr Ambedkar’s contribution towards women empowerment.She quoted Dr Ambedkar who said that the progress of a society or a country is measured by the progress of women. The Governor also highlighted the role of Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution in enshrining a host of protections for the development and empowerment of women in the Constitution as an architect of the Indian constitution Dr Tamilisai urged people to imbibe the spirit of gender equality and inclusion as propagated and practiced by Dr BR Ambedkar Referring to the proposal to raise the age of marriage, the Governor supported bare the idea of ​​ensuring better health for women and children. The governor, who is also a doctor, said family planning is also key to ensuring the health of women and children. Referring to the high incidence of malnutrition among women and children, she stressed the importance of sustained efforts to improve the nutritional status of women. On this occasion, the Governor paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion and referred to them as legendary and visionary leaders who have made enormous contributions to the oppressed sections and to the overall progress of our country.
