The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, with a half-price sale starting at 2 p.m. As of 2:30 p.m. Friday, organizers were halfway to their $15,000 goal, thanks to tremendous community support. “The turnout was great,” said Stefanie Huffaker of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which partnered with women’s athletics Trinity Episcopal and Alpena Community College to sponsor the sale. “The community response has been fantastic,” added Huffaker. “Honestly, I couldn’t ask for more, so it’s been amazing. And we got some great things. It’s not like a normal jumble sale. All monetary proceeds will go to Save the Children, a non-profit organization that helps displaced refugees. All remaining items will be trucked across the state to a Ukrainian church in Traverse City, Huffaker added.
